Frequently asked questions

Everything about how J Street Trivia works — from team size to the $1,000 league prize. Still stuck? Get in touch.

Every game is hosted live and runs a little over two hours, with six rounds mixing general knowledge, current events, music, and picture rounds. It’s relaxed, not rapid-fire — you’ll have plenty of time to answer, order another round, and actually talk to your table between questions.

Nothing. Our weekly pub trivia and bingo are always free to play — just show up and support the bar by grabbing food and drinks. Even our season-long trivia league is free to join.

Bring as many friends as you like. Some venues get packed, so a group of six to eight is the sweet spot, but there's no hard limit. Rolling in solo? Grab a seat at the bar — most nights someone will happily fold you into their team.

We host free weekly trivia and bingo at more than 20 bars and restaurants across Washington DC, Arlington, Alexandria, Bethesda, and the wider DMV. Check our live schedule for the closest game and what night it runs.

For weekly games, no reservation is needed — just arrive a few minutes early to grab a table, since popular nights fill up. For private events, reach out and we'll lock in your date.

Beyond the nightly fun, we run a season-long league. Finish in the top three on the night and you’re rewarded points, and at the end of each season we bring together the top performers from each location to battle it out for a $1,000 cash grand prize to the top team — twice a year.

Just ask your host at any J Street game — they'll get your team set up with a league number on the spot. Give that number to your host wherever and whenever you play, and every game counts toward your standing. (Online sign-up is coming soon.)

We award 3 points for 1st place, 2 points for 2nd, and 1 point for 3rd each night, and we keep track of those points all season. At the end of each season we take the top two teams from each bar and bring them together for a final tournament.

Not to look up answers — that's cheating, and it's no fun for anyone. Texting your group chat is fine; Googling the capital of Burkina Faso is not. Your hosts are watching.

That's up to the venue. Many of our spots are restaurants that welcome all ages, while some are 21+ bars. If you're not sure, give the venue a quick call before you head over.

We do. Several of our venues run themed bingo nights alongside trivia — same free-to-play format, same prizes, a little more shouting. You'll see which nights are bingo on the schedule.

Absolutely — it's one of our favorite things to do. We build custom trivia and bingo for office parties, team offsites, happy hours, embassy receptions, and fundraisers anywhere in the DMV, with your branding and topics. We've done it for embassies, law firms, and companies like Cushman & Wakefield. Tell us what you're after and we'll quote it.

We're always adding rooms. If you run a venue and want to fill a slow night with a reliable weekly trivia or bingo crowd, get in touch and we'll walk you through how it works.

Often, yes. If you're outgoing, reliable, and love a mic and a full room, we'd love to hear from you. It's a fun, well-paid evening gig around the DMV — no experience required, since we train you on our format. Apply on our Join the Team page.

Nightly winners typically take home venue gift cards and bragging rights. The big one is the league: play your home bar all season, and the top two teams from each bar advance to our tournament — held twice a year — where each season's champion takes home a $1,000 cash grand prize.
